Student Project
The Donald Miller StoryBrand approach emphasizes the importance of crafting a cohesive narrative that encompasses the facts and feelings that are created by your brand. For this student project, I was asked to purchase a cheap dollar store item and use it as a focal point to craft an emotive and meaningful brand touchpoint. The object I chose was a plastic fortune-telling pen that I transformed into a product for a pen brand. The brand's primary objective is to provide corporate personalities with a fun and unique conversation starter that promotes workplace connection and interrupts workplace monotony. My final deliverable is a motion advert for the pen brand, Unink, a play on the words ink and unique.
Unink isn’t simply about selling pens, it’s about inspiring individuality, fostering confidence, and challenging corporate expectations. My design approach wraps the customer in a personal story about a man who isn’t happy at his job. He is experiencing real-life frustrations and desires to which the audience can relate to. This story communicates our understanding of our audience and positions them at the center of what we do. By representing the honest and true frustrations of our customers through this motion piece, Unink has developed a meaningful connection with our audience.
